More AI help did not mean better work

In a study of 20 workers using an AI tool for the same hiring task, those who handed over more work finished more. They also made more invalid choices. People with more data skills tended to slow down and check the results. This small study does not tell us how often such errors happen at work.

What the source reports

Researchers watched 20 workers use the same AI tool for a data-focused hiring task. The workers talked through their choices as they worked. Those who let the tool do more finished more of the task, but they also made more invalid choices. Workers with more data skills were more likely to break the task into parts and check the output. Finishing is not the same as getting the answer right. The study used one task and a small group. It cannot tell us how often this happens in other jobs.
