Feeling sure is not the same as catching the AI error
A confident sign-off can hide a weak check. This preprint reports an early study of 12 people and a controlled programming study of 36. Participants could feel sure of their review yet miss silent defects or rely on broad checks. That warns about these tasks, not every use of AI.
Beyond Prompting
What the source reports
This paper looks at how people review AI help with code. The digest reports an early study with 12 people and a test with 36. Some felt sure of their checks but missed quiet errors. Others made broad checks that did not find the flaw. The point is not that all reviews fail. A review needs a test, source, or known answer that can catch a bad result. These were code tasks. They do not tell us how often the same thing happens in schools or other jobs.
