Meta launches Muse with privacy promises still to prove
Meta's privacy story has two parts. Secure VM is the launch system. It separates each user's cloud machine and checks data before it leaves. Confidential VM is planned later. It would use keys held by users to stop even Meta from opening the cloud machine.

WIRED reports that Meta released Muse for iOS, Android, Muse.ai, and WhatsApp. Muse is an AI system that can use tools to carry out tasks. It can help send emails, book travel, sell a car, and make purchases through Stripe Link's single-use card system. The key privacy detail is what exists now and what is planned later. Secure VM is available at launch. It separates each user's activity in a cloud machine and runs Sentinel checks before information leaves. But WIRED says Secure VM is not a true locked box. Meta is barred by policy from accessing Muse data, but technical access would still be possible. Confidential VM is the planned stronger design with user-held keys, audits, published binaries, and transparency logs.
