A model thinking about updates is not proof of deception
What if an AI model seems to think about how later training will change it? Zvi Mowshowitz relays a reported test by Apollo Research and argues that such thinking may help or hurt. One visible passage does not tell us how the model will act.
What the source reports
Zvi Mowshowitz writes about a report from Apollo Research on GLM-5.3. He says the AI model seemed to think about later training. That is not the same as a plan to resist a fix. A model might want to keep doing good work. It might also resist human control. Words on a page cannot settle which. The AI Agency digest got this account through Zvi. It did not check Apollo's full test logs. It cannot say how often this happened. The digest asks readers to compare what a model said with what it did after a change. That is a proposed check, not a result from this source. One reported case is not a rate for all uses of the model.
