Using AI does not mean people want it everywhere
A useful chatbot task is not a vote for AI in every product. MIT Technology Review puts negative public attitudes next to widespread use. The surveys cover different groups, so the essay’s explanation remains an interpretation, not proof of a cause.
What the source reports
Will Douglas Heaven’s MIT Technology Review essay sets negative views of AI beside widespread chatbot use. Those figures come from different surveys and estimates. They do not show that each person who uses a chatbot also dislikes AI. The author suggests some resistance may be aimed at companies adding AI everywhere, rather than at every helpful use. That is his reading of the pattern, not a tested cause. A better question for anyone planning a rollout is two-part: which specific task helps, and where do people still need a real choice? Use alone cannot answer whether people trust or welcome the tool.
