A writing tool lets you compare AI rewrites side by side

A writing study tested a tool that shows alternate styles next to the original text. Sixteen people tried it and reported less mental effort. That is promising for editing, but it does not mean the new wording is true. Keep the first draft visible when you compare versions.

What the source reports

Ajit Mallavarapu and Ziwei Gu tested a writing tool with 16 people. The tool lets a writer preview style options, compare versions and reset a choice. Participants reported less mental effort than in the comparison condition described in the source digest. This is a small study of a writing interface, not a test of whether AI rewrites preserve facts. The interface keeps the first paragraph in view while a writer compares it with a new version. The study did not test whether a smoother sentence might change a factual claim. The study does not establish a gain in accuracy.
