Korean Wikipedia gained editing help-and imported assumptions
A tool that draws on English Wikipedia helped experienced Korean Wikipedia editors produce more work. It also shifted time toward review and carried English-language editorial choices into Korean pages. That is the catch: faster translation still needs local judgment. The study is about this community, not every wiki.
What the source reports
Inhwa Song and colleagues studied an editing tool for Korean Wikipedia. The tool uses AI to bring in text from English Wikipedia. The source digest says skilled editors made more edits with it. They also spent more time checking the work. The tool could bring in choices made by English Wikipedia editors. Those choices may not fit the Korean site. This study used interviews and matched groups in one community. Its results do not show that all translation tools work this way. The digest suggests checking a translated page against its source. That is advice drawn from the study, not a proven fix.
